Ingredients
- 600 g minced pork
- 1 small onion, grated
- 1 small apple, grated
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp groundnut oil
- 4 burger buns, sauce and salad of your choice (optional)
Method
Step 1
Mix together the first seven ingredients. Break off a walnut-sized piece of the mixture and fry it in a little of the oil. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Step 2
Form the rest of the mixture into four patties. Warm the rest of the oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat and fry the patties, until cooked through and lightly browned on the outside around five to six minutes per side.
Step 3
If you’re serving the burgers on buns, lightly toast the buns, spread them with a little mayonnaise and divide the lettuce between each one. Place the burger on top and sandwich together with the top part of the bun. Recipe: Debora Robertson
